RC Heli's

I started flying model helicopters a few years ago now. The first heli I learnt with was the Concept EP 600 sized electric, this is not the best of helis, even by the standards back then.

I then carried on with the Kyosho brand by moving to a second hand Concept 32VR which I stuck with for a fair amount of time, this model taught me loops and rolls.

That model couldn't take me much further as it was fairly poor due to it's age, so I picked up a Morley F1 Carbon 46. I spent most of my time flying this model doing loops and rolls with the occasional auto.

Following that I brought the Hirobo Sceadu SWM, a well built 50 sized machine, this was great until you pranged it, it was never the same again so I sold it :o).

I'd been watching a lot of Alan Szabo DVD's at this stage which might have influenced my next choice a fair bit, I ended up with the Raptor 90 Std, slapped a few Quick UK upgrades on it and flew that for sometime before upgrading to the VMax version. This made a major difference in the way the model flew.

I sold the VMax to a fellow flier and bought myself a Knight Sport, made by Compass Models. The Knight at this stage was by far the best model that I had ever flown so I stuck with it for quite some time.

I then received an offer to test for an 'unknown' company where I would receive a Trex 600 and some lipo packs to test. This escalated into a sponsorship by Aurorra Ltd and to this day I am still flying for them with the Revolution and Kokam packs. The Trex 600 is the best 'flying' model that I've flown to date, although there are some quality issues with the components.

Update 22/08/2007 - I now own a Trex 600n, thanks to Align for sorting that for me. This shall be flown in a few days time.

Update 31/08/2007 - I've now put several flights on the 600n and it's all going very well. Compared to my flybarless 600e it is very unstable in fw flight, but saying that, it doesn't have a bunch of gyro's holding the attitude. Chaos and piro tic tocs are very locked in. It feels like a smooth machine with tons of power. Very impressed, i'll see how it holds up to the test of time.
